A new group has formed in our church – the adoptive/foster families group. (You’d never tell by the pictures.) We met today at our house for a cookout and backyard games. We had a great time. It was pretty obvious when we passed nap time and the kids were not quite as happy-go-lucky.
When I found out the Color Run was coming to Racine (45 minutes south of Milwaukee), I immediately signed up. The premise is a 5k run with powdered color thrown on you at various points. Bo agreed to run it with me and today was the big day! I dragged Wade along to take pictures. Alex was quite concerned that I would be “dirty” and need a shower.

The boys (Wade, Alex, Damian, and Jack) were waiting for us right before the finish line. (Alex was very confused why we didn’t immediately stop.)
Because it was dinner time and we were in Racine, we finished the night with dinner at Chick-fil-a. Perfect!
We invited Tom and Kelly (from church) over for dinner tonight. They came and brought their three daughters (and some awesome apple pie). Alex had so much fun showing the girls his toys and dragging them from room to room.
Alex has been begging to buy and plant flowers for months (every time we drive by the nursery). Today I finally agreed to get flowers. He loved helping me pick them out. Then we got home and he had to have a spade and told me, “Worker man puts it in his pocket.” He then proceeded to refer to himself in the third person as “worker man” for the rest of the morning. I was pleasantly surprised at how smoothly our project went (most of my projects where a 3 year old helps are frustrating). We both had a great time and now all my planting is done! (Alex wanted his own pot of flowers. The first pot pictured is his – he picked most of the flowers himself.)
Amy invited us over for some fun in the sprinkler. The kids loved it!
Summer is coming and that means school-year programs are ending. Today was our last Yo Mama Storytime till fall.
It was a gorgeous day so we all did a little yard work after soccer practice.
We had fun with our Mother’s Day Presents this year and sent the below to the grandmothers.
We tried for a family photo after church but the sun and our escaping-the-backyard-dog didn’t help.
Then we got to Alex’s favorite part – presents! He had been asking for days when it would be “Mother Day” and we could open my bubble rocket.
