Making The Rounds

June 30th, 2009

Alex woke up just in time to join Johnna, Amy, and I for lunch at Flamingo Row. He did pretty well and we did make it all the way through lunch:

We spent late afternoon at the pool. My mom goes every afternoon to tread water with a group of friends. We visited for a while and then played around in the baby pool. It wore Alex out:

Paducah Visiting

June 29th, 2009

Our time in Paducah is always busy. We started the morning with a visit from the Sieners – Carolyn, Leigh Ann, Charli, Kip, and Kase. I think the boys were more fascinated with Madison:

Then we took a picnic lunch to Grandma’s and got to see Aunt Beverly too:

Then we were off to Dad and Laura’s for dinner and visiting.

All Dressed Up

June 27th, 2009

Alex’s outfit today was all for Wade. I’m pretty sure Wade liked it:

Although he did decide to make a modification or two (notice the mohawk):

Alex stayed up all morning and slept all afternoon. I realized there was a slim chance the painters could want to start work while we were out of town. That meant I needed to have the front doors stripped and sanded. I started a little before dark and managed to get them done in time to finish Terminator 3 with Wade.

Cookie Monster

June 26th, 2009

I just made awesome Ginger cookies. I have been consistently treating myself to a ginger cookie at Alterra every time I go to the mall. I dragged Krista with me last week and she said the cookies were similar to her mother’s. I tried her recipe tonight – yum!

The recipe:

¾ c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
4 T molasses
2 t. soda
1 t. cinnamon
½ t. cloves
1 t. ginger
¼ t. salt
2 c sugar

Roll in sugar and bake at 375 for 9-10 minutes.

Oh yeah…Alex wanted to say “hi”

I decided to try Alex in his new stroller. The poor boy would just sweat and sweat in his stroller+car seat. He fell asleep on our walk, but seemed rather comfortable:

I got two new toys today – kinda. My iPhone was having some serious problems – the screen would black out and I couldn’t have a call over 5 minutes long without losing my connection. The man at the Genius Bar ran a diagnostic and told me I had a cellular component malfunction. Then he gave me a new phone! I went home, synced my new phone, and got everything set up just like I wanted. Then I tried to make some calls and realized no one could hear me. It turns out my new iPhone had a faulty microphone. I went back to the store and the man recognized me instantly. He happily replaced the new phone with no hassle. Now I should be good to talk for as long as I want!

Cereal and Painting

June 22nd, 2009

In Alex news – he has moved on to rice cereal.

The doctor suggested we start trying it at his 4 month checkup. He actually seems to enjoy the cereal so now he has it twice a day. Mom suggests this will help him sleep longer at night. I’m hoping….

In house news – we have painters! I have wanted to paint the exterior of the house since we bought it. I knew it wouldn’t happen last year, but wanted to make it a priority for this year. Wade agreed but left all the details up to me. After four painting and two masonary quotes, I think we have it all worked out. I found a painter who will do the necessary tuckpointing – which makes a huge cost difference. The hardest part for me was telling one of the painters we were not going to use him. He was a nice guy and I know he really wanted the job. Thank goodness I got his voicemail when I called!!

Hopefully in a few months the house will be green (brick and siding) and all the trim will be white.
