The Lazy Award

October 31st, 2008

For once I am not the lazy (read as sleep the latest) one in the house. Madison has decided she doesn’t want to get out of bed in the mornings. She always gets in the bed with me when Wade leaves for work and now stays even after I get up. Today she came downstairs at 11:45 – what a lazy dog I have.

A Fall Outing

October 30th, 2008

Milwaukee weather is surprising – it warmed up. When the weatherman predicted a high of 60 degrees, everyone wanted to be outside. Maren called and asked if I’d like to join her for a walk. We ventured out by the lake and had a great time. Elise stayed warm and shaded while we did all the work!

Snow? In October?

October 27th, 2008

They (the weather people) predicted light snow mixed with rain and I didn’t believe them. I was wrong. I am sitting at my desk looking out my newly painted windows and seeing a little white stuff in with the rain. Since the temperature is in the low 40s I know nothing will stick, but it still puts a smile on my face!

Puppies and Lasagna

October 26th, 2008

We had visitors tonight! Christin and Kyle brought dinner (lasagna) and their English Mastiff puppy, Fred, over to visit. Fred is only 6 months old (I think) and weighs 110+ pounds. The first time he and Madison met they were the same size. Now there is a noticable difference and Madison is very perturbed not to be dominating. We laughed at the dogs antics and enjoyed the lasagna dinner.

Game Night

October 24th, 2008

Wade is definitely improving and trying to slowly wean himself off pain medicine. We were invited across the street for board games and gladly accepted. I had met Amber and Nick, but Wade had only heard about them. We did a lot of talking and played a new game (to us) “Apples to Apples” before Wade’s knee screamed for ice and medicine.

Surgery And A Groggy Wade

October 21st, 2008

Wade had his ACL surgery today. His surgery time was 7:30 am so we had to be there by 6 am – very early for me these days. He was joking and happy before the needles started:

I would have taken a picture of the groggy Wade, but I wasn’t sure he would like that. He had a lot of trouble waking up, but we eventually got him home and into bed. The doctor said everything went well and to keep him on the pain medication at least until tomorrow.

Pumpkin Carving

October 19th, 2008

One of Wade’s favorite holidays is Halloween – mostly because he can carve pumpkins. This is the first year we ventured out to a pumpkin patch. I think I was most excited to find a carmel apple.

Although it was fairly late when we got home from dinner we all carved pumpkins at Wade’s insistence and had a great time.
